Magpies Grab Butt

Reports from the BBC state that Manchester United midfielder, Nicky Butt, is poised to join Newcastle for a fee of £2.5m after a 13-year career at Old Trafford.



Salford born Butt, was the first of Fergie's fledglings to break into Manchester United's first team and went on to play more than 350 times for the Red Devils, winning the Premier league, FA Cup and Champions League.

A host of clubs have been trailing Butt since the combative midfielder handed in a transfer request at Christmas but after Newcastle sold Gary Speed to Bolton, speculation intensified that Nicky Butt would head to Tyneside.

If Butt can agree personal terms with Newcaslte, it will be a sad day for Manchester United but after 13-years of great service, he goes with the blessings of the Old Trafford faithful.
