Patrick Vieira will stay at Arsenal after rejecting the approaches of Real Madrid.



Arsene Wenger had given the French talisman a deadline of Sunday to make up his mind regarding his future.

It was thought by many that Vieira would move to Real Madrid in a £23m but Arsenal's captain revealed: "The ties that I have here were too strong for me to break."

"I'm staying at the club. I'm proud to be captain of the club and I'm looking forward to achieving my ambitions."

It's certainly refreshing to the Galaticos miss out on their star man. Maybe there is a shift of power in football's world elite?
