The
Best Video Games Ever Made
People
often ask me to name my favourite video games and although
I try, I inevitably forget one or two classics. To make sure
it never happens again, I decided to compile a list of my
all time favourite games. Feel free to contest or suggest
any games I may have forgotten by dropping me an email.
I'm sure there are plenty.
Starting
life as a "Top Ten Video Games of All Time" this
list is testament to all the great video games of the last
twenty years. With so many games to chose from it was simply
too difficult to stop at ten.
 |
1.
Elite (BBC
Micro, Acornsoft, 1984)
In my opinion, Elite was probably the best game that was
ever made. |
 |
6.
Speedball 2
(Amiga, Image Works, 1990)
Speedball 2 pitted two players against each other in a
futuristic football style game. Who could forget the legendary
shouts of 'Ice Cream' after sending your opponent to hospital? |
 |
2.
Goldeneye
(N64, Rare, 1997)
Goldeneye was the reason I bought my N64 and the game
never left my console. |
 |
7.
Soul Calibur
(Dreamcast, Namco, 1999)
Namco took the beat 'em up genre to a whole new level
with this classic Dreamcast game. |
 |
3.
Championship
Manager (Amiga, Sports Interactive, 1993)
Quite possibly the most addictive game I have ever played,
Championship Manager is the best football(soccer) management
game ever created. |
 |
8.
Tony Hawk Pro
Skater (Playstation, Neversoft,
1999)
Tony Hawk Pro Skater was one of the most addictive games
I have ever played. |
 |
4.
Grand Theft Auto
3 (Playstation 2, Rockstar
North, 2001)
Grand Theft Auto 3 redefined people's perspective on games. |
 |
9.
Citadel (BBC
Micro, Richard and Steve Hanson, 1985)
This was one of the first games I ever played and it captured
my imagination so much that I still play it 20 years later. |
 |
5.
Sensible Soccer
(Amiga, Sensible Software, 1992)
My brother and I played this game for hours upon end and
we never once tired of it. |
 |
10.
Tekken (Playstation,
Namco, 1995)
If Goldeneye was the reason to buy an N64, there was no
doubt that Tekken was the reason to buy a Playstation.
I made more friends at University through this game than
I would like to admit. |
