About

L'Enfant Terrible

Eric Cantona arrived at Old Trafford in December 1992 and so began Manchester United's domination of English football as the Red Devils swept everyone else aside to win the League and FA Cup almost at will.

A player of true vision and creativity. His passing, innovation and influence was unrivalled in the Premier League, and inspired a new generation of young players including Beckham, Scholes, Giggs et al.

In 2003 the retired Frenchman was awarded the accolade of the best player to have ever graced the Old Trafford turf.

It might surprise you to learn that almost 10 years have passed since Eric Cantona famously attacked the Crystal Palace fan that verbally abused him during Manchester United's visit to Selhurst Park in the 94-95 season. To reflect on the occassion, the Observer and Guardian published four articles on the subject.

The Kick That Changed Football
The Assailant
The Target
